Similar to the lot we are currently featuring at Seasonal 'La Lia' this coffee is a very exciting mix of two divers worlds in coffee, Kenya and Costa Rica.
The Plant SL28 has its origin on the cupping table at Scott Laboratories in Kenya where several breeds have been developed and Lot Number 28 has been a winner for sure. With its very distinctive black currant aromas this is probably the most loved varietal among the specialty scene and the starting point for so many out there!
While it is very hard to find a clean lot of only SL28 in Kenya these days, it is even more exciting to be brewing such but in a very controversial surrounding of the natural process and its origin Costa Rica.
Costa Rica produces rather sweet and full bodied, nutty cups – such beautiful daily drinker profiles. SL28 is very commonly only available as a washed processed as it is all about its clarity and vibrant acidity.
In this one by famous Alejo Castro and Patrik Rolf, both worlds are combined and you find the lively SL28 surrounded by a full bodied profile of Costa Rica and enhanced sweetness through the natural process.
A rare one and delicious!
